We’ve Held the Line as Long as Possible: A Necessary Pricing Update
At Designz3D, we have always believed that quality should come first. We take pride in delivering dependable, well-made products, and we have never been willing to sacrifice material quality, workmanship, packaging, or customer service simply to reduce costs.
Unfortunately, continued increases in shipping, raw materials, staffing, and equipment costs have made it necessary for us to adjust our prices.
USPS implemented a significant pricing increase in July, raising our cost to ship many of our products by approximately $4 per order. Rather than immediately passing that increase on to our customers, Designz3D absorbed the additional expense throughout July and into August. In many cases, this meant operating at or near a loss so customers could continue receiving the products and value they expected.
Between rising raw-material and shipping expenses, Designz3D has operated close to a loss—or at a loss—on many orders. We were able to temporarily offset these expenses using emergency operating reserves that our leadership had carefully set aside to protect the company during difficult periods.
However, those reserves were never intended to permanently subsidize every order.
The combined cost of staffing, raw materials, replacement machine parts, maintenance, packaging, and shipping continues to rise. We have now reached the end of what Designz3D can reasonably absorb while remaining sustainable and continuing to provide the products and service our customers deserve.
As a result, prices across our products will increase by $4 to offset the additional shipping expense. This adjustment allows us to continue providing the same product quality, careful fulfillment, and customer service that our customers have come to trust.
We want to be completely transparent: this is not an attempt to increase our profit margins, price gouge, or take advantage of our customers. The additional amount is intended to cover increased operating and shipping expenses—not to generate additional profit for Designz3D.
USPS’s latest adjustment represents one of the largest shipping-cost increases we have experienced. UPS rates have also continued to rise over the past several years. Until now, Designz3D has absorbed much of those increases to preserve the value we offer our customers. Unfortunately, continuing to do so would put the long-term future of the company at risk.
We understand that no customer wants to see prices increase, and we are genuinely sorry that this adjustment has become necessary. This decision was not made quickly or lightly. It is a necessary step to keep Designz3D operating, support our team, maintain our equipment, and continue creating the high-quality products our customers rely on.
Thank you for your understanding, your continued support, and for allowing us to keep creating products you can trust.
